Amber Case and Aaron Parecki on Web Standards and Open Data

Published on

This past Summer I had the pleasure of teaching my Web Standards class to a group of twenty or so Web & Interactive Media Design students at the Art Institute of Portland.

This time I tried something really cool. I asked four speakers (I’m lucky enough to count them amongst my friends) to stop by class and give their unique perspective on the impact of Web Standards. I’ll be showcasing all three of their presentations here in the coming days.

Our first presentation is from cyborg anthropologist Amber Case and developer Aaron Parecki discussing Web Standards and Open Data with an emphasis on geolocation and their Geoloqi project. You can follow both of them on Twitter as @caseorganic and @aaronpk respectively.

Despite the subpar audio on this recording (later interviews would benefit from a greater understanding of Flip charging needs and microphone proximity), Amber and Aaron’s observations are illuminating. I hope you enjoy it!
