Overview
For my first font, I wanted to analyze the nature of typography by borrowing from something more organic. After photographing numerous examples of graffiti around the city, I used my findings to create a TrueType font with upper-case numbers, numerals and a smattering of punctuation and special characters.
The accompanying promotional materials were created using my reference photography, my own sketches and the font itself.
In 2009, Hip Slop became the inaugural font of the Ampercamp type foundry and debuted for sale on MyFonts.com. It was featured in the August issue of Digital Arts magazine that same year.
